A Lafayette man was arrested Sunday after swinging a machete at his stepdaughter's boyfriend.

Regalado Carlos Cordova, 42, was charged with aggravated domestic violence.

According to the arrest report, when Macon County Sheriff's Department deputy Jacob McClard arrived, he spoke with the female, who said that Cordova swung the machete at her boyfriend. The alleged victim also told McClard that Cordova swung the machete at him twice.

Though Cordova didn't make contact, he struck a wooden step with the machete, which left an impression and some mud that was on the machete.

The victim told McClard that he was in fear for his life.

Cordova's bail was set at $5,000, and his court date is slated for Aug. 1.
