MADISON -- The visiting Red Boiling Springs High boys basketball team held off the Hendersonville Royals to capture an 86-85 victory in a game played at Madison Church of Christ on Nov. 20.

The Bulldogs trailed 18-10 after one period of play, but RBS surged out to a 37-31 lead by halftime and to a 59-50 advantage entering the fourth quarter.

However, junior Ky Stanley erupted for 23 points in the fourth quarter to help his squad mount a comeback.

The Royals made five of their 16 3-pointers in the final period.

The Bulldogs sank just 9 of 18 free throws in the fourth quarter, but they connected on all eight of their field-goal attempts over the final eight minutes. The visitors were 18 of 22 from the field in the second half.

RBS junior center Dalton Marsh finished with 35 points and 11 rebounds.

Classmates Mason Hix and Matthew Murphy scored 14 points each. Murphy grabbed 6 rebounds, and Hix provided 6 assists.

Bulldog senior point guard Hunter Kirk finished with 13 points and a team-high 7 assists, and Omarion Williams contributed 10 points.

Stanley finished with a game-high 39 points, and teammates Landon Schroeder and Owen Bass provided 14 and 13 points, respectively.

• The Bulldogs used a balanced offensive attack to blast Daniel 1 Academy, rolling to a 78-30, road win on Nov. 19.

The two teams played a Tennessee Secondary Schools Athletic Association Hall of Champions game in Red Boiling Springs six days earlier, with the Bulldogs claiming a 70-42 victory.

In the rematch, RBS rolled out to a 23-3 lead by the end of the first quarter and extended it to 47-18 by halftime.

Marsh scored half of his 20 points in the first quarter, and Hix made all three of his 3-pointers in the first half.

Marsh also grabbed 10 rebounds, and Hix provided 5 rebounds and 3 steals.

Murphy scored 12 of his 20 points in the second half. Murphy also made three 3-pointers and finished with seven rebounds, four assists and four steals.

The Bulldogs made nine 3-pointers as a team.

RBS welcomed back Kirk, who missed the team's first four games due to an injury suffered in the final game of the Bulldog football program's season. Kirk had 5 assists, 4 rebounds and 1 steal.

Colton Nichols led the Lions offensively with 11 points.
