WESTMORELAND -- Sophomore point guard Jalynn Gregory made seven 3-pointers, helping the Macon County High girls basketball team out to an early lead en route to a 64-39 victory at Westmoreland on Nov. 19.

The Tigerettes led 17-4 after one period of play, and Gregory made three consecutive 3-pointers in the second stanza, extending the margin to 28-9.

Gregory scored 18 of her game-high 23 points in the first half. She also had five steals, and classmate Abby Shoulders finished with four steals.

Macon County forced 23 turnovers and outrebounded the Lady Eagles by a 29-26 margin.

The Tigerettes extended the lead to 37-19 by halftime and increased the margin to 25 points (55-30) entering the fourth quarter.

Macon County junior guard Keeley Carter scored 9 of her 21 points in the first half. She made 8 of 12 field-goal attempts and also grabbed nine rebounds.

Tigerette sophomore forward Marah King provided 8 points in just 14 minutes of action.

Macon County shot 43 percent from the field, compared to 37 percent for Westmoreland.

Lady Eagle junior guard Avery Morris scored a team-high 12 points.

The Tigerettes were slated to play at Clay County on Tuesday evening and will open district play by hosting Smith County on Friday evening.
