GREENBRIER -- The third-seeded Macon County High School volleyball team claimed a 25-14, 23-25, 25-10, 25-15 victory over No. 6 seed and tournament host Greenbrier in a District 11-AA Tournament quarterfinal match played on Oct. 2.

The two teams played in Lafayette just one week earlier, with the Tigerettes rolling to a 25-17, 25-11, 25-23 win.

The two teams played in Greenbrier on Sept. 6, with Macon County capturing a 25-20, 16-25, 25-21, 25-16 win.

In the third meeting, Macon County High junior Mattie Butler returned to action following an injury that kept her sidelined for multiple weeks and produced a team-best eight kills and three blocks, and senior teammate Halle Shrum had 10 digs, six aces, five blocks and four kills.

Tigerette senior Brooklyn Brawner provided nine digs and six kills, and sophomore teammate Kaitlyn Driver finished with four kills and a team-leading six blocks.

Macon County senior setter Chelsea Avila provided 13 assists and also had six digs.
