The Macon County Junior High girls basketball squad opened the season with a 52-10 victory over visiting East Robertson on Monday evening.

The host squad led 17-4 after one period of play, 32-7 by halftime and 50-7 entering the fourth quarter.

Tigerette guard Macy Meador scored 12 of her game-high 14 points in the first half, producing seven of those in the first quarter, and teammate Ellie Coley scored 6 of her 10 points in the second stanza. Coley made all five of her field-goal attempts, and Meador connected of 5 of 6 shots from the field.

The rest of the scoring for the host squad is as follows: Dallas Caldwell 8 points, Natalie Green 6, Cadance Carter 4, Allie Thompson 4, Carly Ramsey 2, Grace Deckard 2 and Laityn Kirby 2.

Bailey Carroll and Kayla Evans scored 4 and 3 points, respectively, for the Lady Indians.

• The Macon County boys weren't able to overcome a slow start in a 29-19 loss to East Robertson.

The Tigers didn't score in the first quarter, trailing 8-0 by the end of the period, 14-9 at halftime and 22-15 entering the fourth quarter.

Macon County's first four baskets came via 3-pointers, with Hayden Wix making two in the second stanza. Garon Cline and Dalton Hudson also made a 3-pointer.

Wix finished with a team-high 6 points, followed by Cline (5), Rawley Ritchie (5) and Hudson (3).

The Tigers and Tigerettes host Winfree Bryant on Thursday evening.
