Macon County High junior McKaylee Mix hits her approach shot on hole No. 9. Mix shot 88 in last Thursday’s season-opening win over Goodpasture.

The Macon County High School golf squads opened the season with victories over visiting Goodpasture on Thursday at Macon County Golf Course.

Senior Landon Polston was the medalist, posting 70, and sophomore teammate Isaac Meador shot 73.

Tripp Gassie led the Cougars with a round of 72.

Red Boiling Springs had two individuals competing, with juniors Mason Hix and Matthew Murphy posting scores of 99.

The Tigerettes finished 24 strokes better than Goodpasture, with senior Carson Roddy and junior McKaylee Mix posting identical rounds of 88.

Sarah Loveless shot 95 to lead Goodpasture.
