The Macon County Board of Education held their regular meeting on Thursday, March 13. The following business was conducted:
The board approved the minutes of several work sessions and the February board meeting, and amended minutes from the January board meeting.
The board approved the creation of a Maintenance Technician/Assistant Maintenance Supervisor position. This job will be posted soon.
The board approved that a metal building be constructed, using funding and labor from Macon Schools, to donate to the Lafayette Lions Club.
During appearance requests: Don Jones talked about the need for a new science lab at Red Boiling Springs High School. No decision was made about funding such a project. Stephanie Meador talked about FCCLA awards received at TN Tech by Macon County High School students. Brenda Eller updated on school calendar Skyward.
The following policies were deleted from school policy code:
5.900 Professional Personnel Negotiations-Legal Status; 5.901 Scope of Professional Negotiations; 5.902 Board Negotiating Agent; 5.903 Director of School’s Role; 5.904 Bargaining Process Reporting; Academic Excellence.
The board discussed the purchase of school busses; no decision will be made on this until a new budget year.
