J.W. Taylor, age 96, and his wife Helen, age 94, just celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary, surrounded by family. The two were married January 1, 1938.
The Taylors were pivotal members of the Macon community throughout the mid-century. J.W. served as president of Citizens bank for many years, retiring in 1971 and the couple had three children—David, Susan, and Whitley. They have six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
“He was the person that hired me here, 46 and a half years ago,” said Janice Gammons, now Senior Vice-President at the bank. “They were very well respected people when they lived here, and still are as far as that goes.
“Miss Helen was a very very sweet lady. Of course she stayed at home when they lived here, and was a housewife. And I’m sure she belonged to some of the clubs in town.”
