Macon County Legislative Body meets

The Macon County Legislative Body met in regular session on Monday, November 21. Commissioner Jeff Hughes gave the invocation, and Commissioner Kimmy Warf led the pledge. Upon roll call, 19 of 20 members were present, with Todd Gentry being the only absent member.

Motion was made to go into Election of Notaries Public. Motion carried. Those nominated included Paulette Davis by Phillip Snow and Teresa Austin by Scott Gammons.

Motion was made that nominations cease and to elect those nominated for Notaries Public by acclimation. Motion carried.

Motion was made to approve minutes as presented from the 10/17/16 Legislative Body Meeting, 9/20/16 Planning Commission Meeting, and 11/7/16 Committee of the Whole Meeting. Motion carried.

Motion was made to approve Budget Amendments #1 through #4 (#1 Library, #2 Circuit Court Clerk-Restricted, #3 Sheriff’s Department, #4 Other Charges-Worker’s Compensation). Motion carried on roll call 19-0.

Motion was made to approve Resolution #11-79/2016, Recycling Month Resolution. Motion carried.

Motion was made to approve Mayor Steve Jones’ 2016/17 Committee List. Motion carried.

Motion was made to approve the resignation letter from Phil Spears and Junior Spears as Judicial Commissioners effective when replacements are hired. Motion carried on roll call 18-1, with Phillip Snow voting no.

Motion was made to approve Mayor Jones’ committee appointment of Ken Witte, to proceed with advertising and setting up the Judicial Commissioner Review Committee. Motion carried.

Motion was made to allow Mayor Jones to appoint Danny Gross as Interim Judicial Commissioner while the committee searches for permanent replacements of the Judicial Commissioner position vacancies. Motion carried.

Motion was made for the commissioners to give Mayor Jones authority to negotiate a price for the Joines Property, which adjoins the justice center property, and bring back to the commission for approval. Motion carried on roll call 17-2, with Justin Dyer and Jeff Hughes voting no.

Motion was made to accept the bid of $5,000 from Wayne Pryor for the county property located on Market Street in Red Boiling Springs. Motion carried on roll call 19-0.

Motion was made to approve the Codes Enforcement/Impact Report. Motion carried.

Motion was made to adjourn. Motion carried. The December Legislative Body Meeting will be held on Monday, December 19 and will begin at 6:00pm at the Macon County Courthouse.
