NAPA Auto Parts changes ownership

The NAPA Auto Parts store in Red Boiling Springs has been a staple in the city since it opened in 2004. The store’s owner, Roger Roark, who was born and raised in Red Boiling Springs, describes it as more than just a store, but as a place where people gather.

“I’ve got some older guys that come in here… Charles Langford and Sammy Morgan. I pay them a salary of a Pepsi Cola every morning,” Roark laughs, and adds that the store has its own motto, and that motto is, “We do not spread gossip, we tell you one time and if you don’t get it that is your fault.”

Since the store opened, customers have come from all surrounding counties to shop there. “I have enjoyed the last 13 years and the people in Red Boiling Springs and Macon County.” He adds that he really wants to thank the loggers. “The loggers and logging people are the ones who have kept me in business.”

Roark continues, “We agitate and aggravate and have a lot of fun, but we will get you anything you want, no matter what it is. For a vehicle or any piece of equipment.” Roark says he decided to open the store because there wasn’t one on this side of the county. “I thought it would be fun.”

Despite the fun Roark says has been had at the store, he says he has decided to sell. Kings Auto Parts based out of Tompkinsville, Kentucky, is purchasing the store. “They’re venturing down here to expand their business,” Roark says, and he assures his customers that Kings Auto Parts is a certified NAPA dealer just as he is. The new management will take over on February 1st, but even after, Roark says he will be around.

“I’m not dying, I hope. I’ll be around Red Boiling Springs,” he laughs.
