At 10:55 a.m. on Monday, January 30, 2017, Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Tracy Donoho clocked a Volkswagen traveling 36 mph over the posted speed on Highway 52 West.
Trooper Donoho stated, “Tyler Naplan, 19, of Red Boiling Springs was traveling west on Highway 52 when I clocked him driving 91 mph in a 55 speed zone.” While attempting to flee from Donoho, Naplan made a left hand turn onto Howell Road at a high rate of speed when the rear of the car spun around and came to rest in a ditch, according to Donoho.
Jamie Butram, 26, of Red Boiling Springs was a passenger in the vehicle. After being checked out by EMS, Butram was released. Naplan was uninjured.
Naplan was arrested and transported to the Macon County Jail where he was charged with speeding, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, and driving on a suspended license.
