A new face has recently been patrolling the streets with the Lafayette Police Department. Macon County native Elliot Sandifer from the Macon County Sheriff’s Department has transferred to the LPD, his first day was Monday, Jan. 23, 2017.

Sandifer, who has been in law enforcement since 2015, says his favorite part of the job is being able to help the community. He also adds that he enjoys meeting people in the community and that being a police officer “is something different every day.”

Sandifer says he would like to thank Sheriff Gammons “for hiring me and giving me a shot.” He says he would also like to thank Chief Gann “for letting me continue my career.”

Gann stated, “Elliot will be Patrolman on night shift. We are glad to have him as a part of our team. I believe he will make the City a good officer.”
