25 years and counting

Randy and Debbie Swaffer say that they “just knew” they were going to be married. “We both knew after our third date.” Debbie said. The two have been together since September 1991, when Debbie’s sister-in-law introduced them. “She told me she had met someone that she thought I would be interested in…so we actually went on a blind date.” A month later, on October 3rd, Randy proposed and the Swaffers were married on August 1, 1992.

In the nearly twenty-five years since, they have added one son, Jonathan, who is a Marine, and one grandson, Landon, who is seven, to their family. When they’re not spending time with family, Randy and Debbie say they enjoy going out to eat and seeing movies together.

The Swaffers also had a few words of advice for newlywed couples. “Love each other and do not be selfish,” Randy said. Debbie added, “Always talk to one another… just talk things through, which is what Randy and I have always done.” She also said that talking things through is what she believes has helped keep their relationship strong.

Debbie laughs, “We’re very comfortable with each other, we’re very content.”
