Most parents agree that summer camp is a fun experience for children. But what if a weeklong summer camp is an investment in a child’s future career? Nashville Pilot Camp, hosted by Nashville Flight Training, hopes to be just that, not only offering campers the incredible experience of learning to fly a plane, but introducing them to the aviation industry and the potential to be a part of it.

“There is nothing more thrilling to our instructors than sharing the amazing experience of flying a plane with new students,” said Nashville Flight Training president, Chris Erlanson. “Our hope is that the Nashville Pilot Camp experience can spark a lifelong interest in flying for some of these teens who may then be inspired to become the airline captains or astronauts of the future.”

Nashville Pilot Camp, designed to accommodate 20 students ages 13-18, introduces campers to hands-on aviation instruction through flights on FAA certified flight simulators. Throughout the week, campers will learn the disciplines of aviation through science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), culminating in the opportunity to pilot a plane with an instructor. This summer’s camp will be hosted on site at Nashville Flight Training June 26 – 30 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

The camp fee is $699. In addition to FAA certified flight instruction, each camper will receive books, maps, and a camp T-shirt. For additional information, a tentative camp schedule and for registration forms, visit nashvilleflighttraining.com/nashville-pilot-camp/.

“Nashville Flight Training is committed to invest in the next generation of pilots,” said Erlanson. “With the industry’s growing pilot shortage, perhaps in doing so we can be a part of introducing sharp new talent to an industry that needs them.”
