The 3rd grade students at Westside Elementary participated in a series of lessons called “Making Tracks with Rudy Raccoon”. Lynne Knight, UT Extension Family and Consumer Sciences agent, taught six lessons where students learned how to: eat a variety of foods from each food group, eat a healthy breakfast to begin the day, choose water and other healthy beverages instead of sugar sweetened drinks, wash their paws, and become more physically active.

All the students received a workbook and certificate and were engaged in a variety of activities relating to the lessons. Family newsletters were sent home to reinforce the information that the students learned.

A special thanks to Principal Angela Marshall and 3rd grade teachers Tam Budge, Kim Goad and Destiny Smith for allowing UT Extension to present this program.
