On Tuesday, October 25th, the Lafayette Lions Club and their Cub and Little Lions programs instituted the “It’s All About the Kids” Project. The project provides small stuffed animals to local emergency responders to give to children who might be the victim of an accident or emergency so, as one child put it, “They won’t get scared.”

The Cubs and Little Lions have been working to put “hanging monkeys and teddy bears” into small plastic bags to keep them clean. The club says the children have been working very hard on this project. “We want this to be an ongoing project for our Little Lions and Cubs,” says Lion Carolyn Blankenship. “They would like to donate these to help in a small way to brighten another child’s life…”

Emergency Medical Services Assistant Director Randy Carter thanked the club for their donations. “You would be surprised how… when the stuffed animal gets the shot or IV, it’s so much better for the child,” he told the club at the meeting. He also added that EMS sees on average five to six children a month.

Carter went on to add that the EMS service greatly appreciates the donations. “The toys will be put to good use.”
