The Macon County 4-H Livestock Expo was held recently at the Macon County Fairgrounds with several youth in grades 4-12th grade participating. Exhibitors, their families and sponsors enjoyed a meal before the livestock show. Registered Angus Beef Heifers, Commercial Heifers, along with Sheep, Registered ewes, Commercial ewes and market lambs were on exhibit that night by local 4-H/FFA members. The show had incorporated into it a Pee-Wee showmanship for any child that was below 4-H age, these youth received awards for their work in the show ring with animals they borrowed from those showing that evening.
Several sponsors made for a very successful show: Macon Bank & Trust, Macon Co. Cattleman’s Assoc., Macon-Trousdale Farmers Coop., North Central Telephone Coop., Davis Electronics, Fitzgerald Animal Clinic, Ben Bray Real Estate & Auction, D.T. McCall & Sons, and Macon County Fair Board. Without the help of these sponsors the show would not have been a success.
The Regional Beef and State Show will take place in Murfreesboro on the M.T.S.U campus July 7-9th, good luck to the Bussell Family. The State 4-H Sheep show in Cookeville will be held at the Hyder/Burks Ag. Pavilion, July 14-16th.
Again thanks for the support of the Macon County Sponsors, and parents, good luck to all the exhibitors at upcoming shows. If you would like to learn more about showing livestock in 4-H contact the Macon Co. 4-H Office.
