A woman was airlifted to Vanderbilt Thursday afternoon, August 21, after being hit head on by a 1996 Toyota Corolla driven by Zachary Bandy, 22. Bandy was traveling northbound on Oakdale Rd and crossed the center lane.


The woman, Ashley Ward, 25, of Lafayette, was traveling south in her 2004 Hyundai on the roadway when the accident occurred. According to THP Trooper Cody Ballard’s report Bandy was cited for being at fault.


Ward was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center via Air Evac. Responding to the scene was the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Macon County Rescue, Macon County EMS, Macon County Sheriff Department and Air Evac.
