A concert was held Saturday night at the National Guard Armory in Lafayette to raise money for Santa's Helpers. The Macon Helps program, which is in its fifth year, provides Christmas gifts for needy children in Macon County.

This was the first year that Santa's Helpers held a benefit concert. Local groups Shattered Silence and Mama Tried performed for the fund raiser, which brought in $827 for Santa's Helpers.

The next benefit for the toy drive is the 7th Annual Pat Ashby Memorial Toy Run/Poker run sponsored by the Lafayette chapter of the Grim Reaper Motorcycle Club. It will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9.

For more information on making donations to Santa's Helpers, contact Macon Helps at 666-6607.
