Last Monday, the Red Boiling Springs Jr. High Lady Bulldogs and Bulldogs did battle against Jackson County. This was a rematch of earlier in the season. Both of the RBS teams soundly defeated Jackson County in the first time they faced off, but would they succeed a second time?
First, the girls took on Jackson County. After Jackson County had been embarrassed by the Lady Bulldogs in the first time they played this season (the Lady Dawgs held them scoreless), Jackson County was looking for revenge. They wouldn’t get it in this game at all, as RBSJH Lady Dawgs held Jackson County scoreless again!
The first quarter and second quarter were both good scoring quarters for the Lady Dawgs as they dropped 5 points in each quarter on their opposing team. Jackson County didn’t know how to react when the Lady Dawgs kept scoring. Jackson scored zero points in the first half!
The second half started off slow for the Lady Dawgs. They only had 4 points in the third quarter. However, after three quarters, they were beating Jackson County 14-0. The fourth quarter was an eruption of points for the Lady Dawgs, as they dropped 10. Coach Huggins was even able to empty her bench as the Lady Dawgs rolled to an easy victory 24-0.
Leading the way in scoring for the Lady Dawgs in this game was Lauren Henson with 9 points. Henson also had a steal and a rebound and hit four of her six shots. Shaylee Ellingson only scored two points, but she helped her team tremendously by pulling in four rebounds (two offensive, two defensive) and picked up two steals.
