Mrs. Lorelle Hunter Mofield of the Rawls Creek Community died at the age of 78 at 6:38 p.m. Tuesday evening October 30, 2012 at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville following brain surgery as the result of a fall suffered at her home.

Saturday morning November 2nd funeral services were conducted from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home by Eld. Stephen Brooks and Mrs. Mofield’s pastor Bro. John Petrie. Following the 11 a.m. services burial was in the Ridgewood Cemetery with Bro. Mark Stinnett officiating.

Born Sarah Lorelle Presley in Baxter in Putnam County on August 14, 1934, she was one of two children of the late George Faith and Myrtie B. Alcorn Presley.

Her first husband and the father of her three sons Carthage City Policeman William James “Bill” Hunter died December 27, 1979 at the age of 57.

On July 24, 1984 she was united in marriage to Rawls Creek Community resident Wilbur Julian Mofield and he preceded her in death on January 30, 2008 at the age of 76 following twenty three years of marriage.

Mrs. Mofield was retired as a bus driver for the Smith County Head Start Center and was a driver from 1977 until 1998.

She was a member of the New Middleton Baptist Church.

Surviving area her three sons, James Hunter and wife Cindy of New Middleton, Ricky Hunter and wife Shelia of Lafayette, Donnie Hunter and wife Cheryl of Lebanon; step-daughter, Tammy Carter of Carthage; eight grandchildren, April Miller, Jimmy Hunter, Lorie Moss, Martha Sampson, Barbara Smith, Misty Denney, Dewayne Hunter, Sydney Hunter; four step-grandchildren, Bryan Evitts, Kendra Bransford, Michelle Goodwin & Chris Bunch; eleven great-grandchildren, ten step-great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family requests memorials to the New Middleton Baptist Church.
