Funeral services for Noel W. "Square" Copas, age 52, of the Hermitage Springs Community were conducted Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of Phillip Anderson & Son Funeral Home in Red Boiling Springs, TN with Jimmy Cook officiating. Pallbearers were Tim Smith, Mike Crawford, Lowell Smith, Greg Rich, Brian Copas, George Curtis, Brandon Hawkins and Chuck Hawkins. Interment followed in the Hermitage Springs Cemetery.

Noel was pronounced dead on arrival Monday morning at Macon County General Hospital from injuries sustained in a car accident on Hwy. 52 at the Macon and Clay County line.

A native of Clay County, TN, he was the son of Kathleen Newman Copas of Hermitage Springs and the late Edmon Copas. He was preceded in death by sister, Loretta Copas, He married Janice Hawkins on October 23, 1970, who survives. He was a salesman for Smith Motor Sales in Red Boiling Springs where he had worked for 15 years.

Survivors besides his mother and wife include: daughter, Cynthia Copas; brother, James (Amelia) Copas, all of Hermitage Springs; brother, Tim Copas, Red Boiling Springs; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mona Hawkins and Harold Howser of Lafayette; devoted friend, Anthony Burton, Lafayette.
