NELL CARVER GIVINS

Mrs. Nell Carver Givins, 85, of South Carthage died at 10:00 p.m. Wednesday February 7, 2007, at the Smith County Health Care Center.

Services were conducted at 1:00 p.m. Saturday afternoon from the Carthage Chapel of Sanderson Funeral Home, with Larry Cole officiating. Burial followed in the Robinson Cemetery at Russell Hill.

Born Nell Martin Carver in the Carver Hollow in the Cartwright Community, she was one of nine children of the late Jasper and Caltha Kate Carver.

Siblings preceding her in death were Pauline Givins, Olean Russell, Opal Hesson, Pearl Smith, infants Jasper Ray and Roger Eugene Carver.

She was married to William Hardin Givins of the Martin Hollow Community at Difficult. He preceded her in death, after sixty two years of marriage.

Mrs. Givins was preceded in death by a son and daughter in law, Ricky and Charlotte Bowman Givins who died in an automobile accident on Christmas Eve of 2000, and by a daughter Linda Givins Wiggins who died July 14, 2006.

A homemaker, Mrs. Givins was a member of the former Cantor's Chapel Church of Christ at Cartwright and attended the Montrose Church of Christ until ill health prevented her attendance. She was employed at the former Carthage Shirt Corporation for over twenty years.

Mrs. Givins is survived by a daughter Pam Swann and husband Jimmy of Monoville; son Jack Givins and wife Carolyn of Goodlettsville; son in law Charles Wiggins Goodlettsville; and two brothers Roy Carver of Carthage and Robert Carver of Nashville; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

DAYSE LUCILE OVERSTREET

Dayse Lucile Overstreet, 71, of Celina, passed away Tuesday February 6, 2007, at the Livingston Regional Hospital in Livingston, TN.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday February 8, from the chapel of Upton Funeral Home, with Bill Threet officiating and burial in the Overstreet Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Clyde Brown, Henry Overstreet, Jeff Poindexter, Ray Boles, Donnie Boone, and Warren Arms.

Dayse Overstreet was born in the Celina Community to John Harmon and Alice Artemzia (Arms) Overstreet. She was affiliated with the Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by one brother, Mitchell Overstreet.

Survivors include: one brother, John Thomas Overstreet, of Nashville; one sister in law, Helen Frances Overstreet, of Celina, three nieces, one nephew, and six great nieces and nephews.
