Girls coach Larry White (left) and boys coach Michael Owens (right) was presented with checks from Macon Bank and Trust representative Brandon Woodard (center). During the season, Macon Bank and Trust sponsored the Bulldogs in a free throw challenge. For every free throw the Bulldogs made, Macon Bank and Trust donated $1.00. Combined, Macon Bank and Trust donated over $250.00 to the basketball program.

The Red Boiling Springs Basketball Program officially closed their 2012-2013 season with a traditional awards banquet on February 21, 2013. The banquet was held at the Red Boiling Springs cafeteria. The attendees enjoyed a potluck style dinner with dessert provided by the Red Boiling Springs Lions Club. After dinner, boys coach Michael Owens and girls coach Larry White presented individual awards to both teams. Recipients of awards include:

Girls Awards:

Senior Kalisha Lynch received Team Leading Scorer, Team Leader in Assists, Best Free Throw Percentage, and Co-Most Valuable Player of the team.

Senior Katie Hix received Team Leading Rebounder, Team Leader in Steals, Top Defensive Player, and Co-Most Valuable Player of the team.

Junior Kelsey Jenkins received Team Leading Three Point Shooter.

Junior Mayson Burgener received the Scholastic Award

Sophomore Kaitlyn McCarter received the Most Improved Player award.

Most Dedicated Player and Miss Hustle was awarded to Junior Ashlyn Murphy

Boys Awards:

Sophomore Nick Deckard received Team Leading Scorer (tied), Most Steals, Best Defensive Player, and Weightlifting Award.

Sophomore Alex Mullinix received Team Leading Scorer (tied) and Most Assists.

Sophomore Dallas Greanead received Team Leading Rebounder, Most Deflections (tied), and Best Field Goal Percentage.

Sophomore Zane Roberts received Most Charges Taken, Most Three Pointers made, Best Three Point Percentage (tied), and Most Dedicated award.

Junior Ty Tuck received Most Deflections.

Sophomore Skyler Holden received Best Free Throw Percentage, Best Three Point Percentage (tied), and Hustle Award (tied).

Freshman Mason Hewitt received the Hustle Award (tied), Most Improved Player (tied), and Scholastic Award (tied).

Sophomore Brince Crouch received Most Improved Player (tied), Bulldog Award, and was named to the District 8A All Tournament Team.

The Spirit Award went to Junior Kason Wheeler and Sophomore Wesley Davis.

Freshman Wesley Fleming received the Coaches Award.

Freshman Chance Asberry received the Scholastic Award (tied) and the Junior Varsity Most Valuable Player.

There were also two other awards given during the banquet. The first was the Nelson Trophy Citizenship Award. This award was presented to a member of the girls’ team, as well as, the boys’ team. The recipients of the citizenship award were Freshman Hannah Smith and Freshman Mason Hewitt. The last award of the night was the Maxie Smith Memorial Award. Smith was a three star Red Boiling Springs athlete who was tragically killed in an automobile while attending Red Boiling Springs High School. Smith always demonstrated good sportsmanship, as well as being a role model for those who knew him. This award is given in his memory to a student at RBSHS based on the criteria of the student demonstrating good standards, ethics, and community service. The recipient of this award was Senior Connor Murphy.
