The Tigerettes had their claws bared when they went up against Westmoreland in the home game on April 19th.. Unlike the game with Friendship a week back when a number of missed opportunities cost them the game, against Westmoreland the Tigerettes did a much better job of capitalizing on the opportunities that presented themselves. The entire batting lineup did a good job of aggressively hitting the ball as well as patiently “watching” the ball for the right moment.
The result of watching drew the Tigerettes 13 walks filling the bases on a number of occasions. Then with bases loaded several players delivered clutch hits just when they were needed most.
The game ran for 6 innings and the Tigerettes scored 12 runs while allowing Westmoreland only 2 runs. Their defensive play behind their pitcher was great and they had not a single error thruout the 6 innings. Coach Monica Braswell commented “When we play error free defense and hit the ball, we are a very good team. As we go into the final stretch of our season and enter the district tournament, it will be important for us to hit and play defense consistently.”
From the looks and performance in the game with Westmoreland, they are gearing up to do just that.
