The Macon County Arts Council (MCAC) held their annual Auction for the Arts dinner in the Sally Wells Building on August 25, 2012.
The mission of the MCAC is to stimulate interest and awareness in all forms of art, to encourage creative expression in all the arts; to promote continual growth of the arts through schools, community activities and special events; and to coordinate art activities that will make participation in the arts accessible to all in Macon County.
The auction opened at 5:00 to allow bidders to preview and silently bid on artwork donated by local artists and photographers. Dinner was served at 6:00 which featured a pasta bar catered by Linda’s Catering and desserts by Brandy Nichols.
During dinner, the guests were treated to some live entertainment by the trio “Kinship.” At 7:00, Ben Bray, of Ben Bray Real Estate & Auction Company, took over and the bidding began. Monies raised from this auction will go back to Macon County in the form of events such as Movies in the Park, Art in the park, The Young Americans show, and many more.
The Macon County Arts Council would like to thank everyone for attending and purchasing the items so graciously donated by the members and supporters of MCAC, their corporate sponsors: Macon Bank and Trust, Citizens Bank, North Central, Jett Williams and Keith Atkinson, and Ben Bray for volunteering his time to be the auctioneer. They would also like to thank Chairperson Kathy Eden and Co-Chairperson Brandy Nichols for their efforts on this project and for giving their time for a wonderful cause.
