A 9-year-old girl was lifeflighted to Vanderbilt on Thursday after being shot in the head with an arrow.
Macon County Detective Darrell Taylor, who made out the accident report, said that the girl was playing with a 10-year-old and 11-year-old on the lawn, under adult supervision. The children were playing with a bow and arrow, Taylor said, and the little girl ran into the path of a released arrow: “Just a freak accident.”
The girl’s grandparents picked her up and took her to Westmoreland Family Clinic, where doctors treated her. She was then airlifted to Vanderbilt.
She is currently in stable condition, reported Taylor.
