A small black sedan ran off the road in Lafayette on Friday; the 18-year-old female driver admitted to THP officers that she had been texting when the accident occurred.

Trooper Donoho said that the young lady was Southbound on Hwy 10 when her tire slipped off the right side of the road. She overcompensated and ended up driving over the edge on the opposite side of hte road, landing in the deep ditch area with her car flipping around to face the road sometime in the process.

The girl was loaded into an ambulance but had only minor bruises. Law enforcement officers continue to remind drivers that texting on the road is both dangerous and illegal.
