Detective: woman arrested for throwing drugs into jail
by Kelly Rich
Reporter

A woman was arrested on Sunday, police say, after attempting to throw a package of drugs into the Macon County Jail’s recreation yard for a prisoner to pick up.

Charlene Danielle Primeaux-Ladd, age 31, of Red Boiling Springs, was charged one count of trespass: criminal aggravated, one count of possession of Ledgend drug, one count of possession of SCH.IV and one count of possession of SCH.V. C

The Macon County Sheriff Department was first alerted the Monday before, when some “bullets” (balls wrapped up with drug items inside) were discovered behind an office at the Justice Center along a chain-link fence.

Detective Donnie Crawford reports, “I found out that there was going to be a drop Sunday, while a certain pod [of prisoners] was going to be in the reck yard. So at that time, me and Deputy Petty sat in one of the judge’s chambers, watching the area where they would come.

“I observed Ms. Charlene Danielle Primeaux-Ladd pull up behind Rick Gann’s office, exit her vehicle, and throw three items towards the yard. The rec yard is just covered with the chain-link fence, so the prisoners can get some sun light. She was trying to throw them where they would fall through the chain link fence while the inmates were in the rec yard. Once I observed her throwing the three items in the area of the rec yard we took her into custody and got one of the officers to do a search of the prisoners in the yard.

“Once all items could not be located, I climbed up on the roof and located three wads of tap. Two had tobacco in it and one had an assortment of pills, which I later identified…to be 2 Xanax, 35 Zanaflex and 15 Lyrica,” stated Det. Crawford.

Primeaux-Ladd’s court date is April 3rd, and her bond was set at $5,100.
