Terry Crowder, 46, is charged with manufacture of narcotics and unlawful possession of a weapon, and Richard Murphy, 42, is charged with two counts of manufacture of narcotics.

On the morning of the 27th, Patrolman Mercer and Sgt. Michael Veatch interviewed Crowder after finding a 30-30 rifle in the felon’s vehicle. This led to Det. Crawford and Sgt. Veatch performing a “door knock” later that day, at a residence on Union Camp Road that Crowder had been sharing with an unnamed female.

“Once we entered the residence,” said Det. Crawford, “me and Sgt. Veatch could smell what we believed to be marijuana. After speaking with the female subject, I looked in the ashtray that was in the coffee table in plain view. I saw what I believed to be a marijuana cigarette ‘roach’. I spoke with the female subject, she gave me consent to search, then she took us to a location in the bedroom beside nightstand. She pulled out the drawer and she had several bags of green leafy subject believed to be marijuana, that was packaged up for resale.”

Crowder had already taken off on foot, when he heard the officers pulling into the long driveway, according to Crawford: “K-9 handler Veatch and I did run at track behind the residence, but were unable to locate Mr. Crowder. He turned himself in the very next morning. ”

The K-9 also did an open air search around the vehicle in the driveway, leading to the discovery of a brown paper bag with seven more small plastic bags inside, ready for resale.

While the officers were still searching for Crowder, Det. Satterfield and Det. Taylor headed over to Richard Murphy’s residence on nearby Taurus Farm Road, to see if Crowder had run there. Murphy was a known acquaintance of Mr. Crowder’s.

“While speaking to Mr. Murphy, he advised that he had some marijuana on his premises and led us the way there,” said Det. Satterfield. “He gave us consent to search the property. And at that time we found a small bag of marijuana in the home, and also in a camper located beside the residence, we found a paper sack containing stripped marijuana; it’d already been pulled and harvested and ready for baggaging. It was loose. Det. Taylor found some marijuana growing in the back of the residence.

“We also found approximately 11 guns inside the residence. They were confiscated as a part of the investigation. Whether they will be returned will be up to the court system.”

Crowder’s bond was set at a total of $4,000, with court dates of 12/5 and 1/2 for the two charges, and Murphy’s bond was set at $15,000, with a court date of 1/2.
