When teammates at Palace Care and Rehab began planning for the holidays, Mark Asberry added his own suggestion to the list: “Let’s take on a project that will spread the spirit of Christmas to others.”
Mark took on the project and began working with local schools to organize a toy drive. “Mark used my office for the donation site,” laughed Mary Braswell, Admissions Coordinator for The Palace. “Some days I could barely get to my desk. We had to keep making deliveries so I would be able to work and Mark wouldn’t even apologize.”
“The need was greater than we had imagined, “ stated Asberry who was assisted by nurses Denise Rhoten and Darrell Ledbetter. “The evening before our cutoff date, we were still getting calls. It was a good feeling knowing that some child and family would have a little something extra for Christmas. It confirmed my belief that our staff is compassionate and willing to do what it takes to help others. I believe that we will probably sponsor events like this more often.”
