A man was arrested in Red Boiling Springs this week who has multiple outstanding warrants in two other states. Eric Kai Stricklin, age 30, is currently wanted in both Indiana and Alabama. He, along with Emily Williams, who was driving the vehicle he was passenger in, were both arrested on North Springs Road in RBS after Williams was stopped for speeding.

Assistant Chief Jacob Jordan of RBSPD said that after he stopped Williams, she was unable to produce proof of insurance. “I could see some open beer bottles in the rear floorboard,” said Jordan. When Jordan asked about them, Eric Stricklin, the passenger, said that they were his and that he had drunk one of them.

Jordan, who was then suspicious of drugs being involved, called in Sgt. Michael Veatch of the Macon County Sheriff Department. Jordan ran both driver’s licenses and found that Eric Stricklin had out of state warrants outstanding.

“I began speaking with the passenger about his warrants and smelled the immediate odor of alcohol and marijuana,” said Jordan. “When asked about the marijuana Stricklin gave me a marijuana pipe from his pocket and stated he had just smoked some about a half hour ago. I then began talking with Ms. Williams and asked her if there was any drugs in the car. She did state that there were some mushrooms in the rear of the car. Sgt. Veatch and myself then located twelve individually packaged bags of shrooms totaling six oz.”

The couple, who are from Monticello, KY, were arrested and transported to Macon County Jail for booking.

Emily Elizabeth Williams was charged with one count of controlled substance offense (SCH.1 resale) one count speeding and one count financial responsibility law. Her court date is scheduled for June 12. Bond was set at $15,000.

Eric Kai Stricklin was charged with one count of controlled substance offenses (SCH.1 resale) and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. His court date is scheduled for June 12. Bond was set at $50,000.

Later, on May 10, Stricklin was also charged with criminal impersonation, use of false identification and fugitive from justice. When Stricklin is finished with his court proceedings in Macon County, and any sentenced jail time, he will be sent on to the other states for trial.

Letter to the Editor
Dear Editor, acknowledgment of reality is a good starting point. I read in last week’s paper that upgrading Hwy 10 is not in the state budget for the next 3 years. Without doubt Mayor Linville, as well as the rest of us, needs to be concerned for the blatant disregard for the safety of our c...
