Lafayette Police still fighting drugs

The Lafayette Police Department made a meth arrest at Walmart on Friday while investigating a shoplifting.

CPL. Jeff Hix was dispatched to Wal-mart on Friday, March 29 to investigate at a possible shoplifter. He found the subject, Georgia Bishop, in her vehicle attempting to leave. He then began to question Mrs. Bishop about the shoplifting and asked to search her purse for stolen items.

“Upon search I found a tin container with a bag of methamphetamine. I also found a small purple bag in her hand, in the bag were two baggies of methamphetamine inside,” stated Hix.

Georgia Kaye Bishop was arrested and charged with one count of possession of schedule II for resale and manufacture (meth). Her court date set for April 24th at 9:00 AM. Bond was set at $20,000.

The day prior, on Thursday, March 28, a drug arrest was made at Advanced Auto Parts after CPL. Garrett Flatt was dispatched in reference to two individuals possibly under the influence of alcohol and or drugs.

Cpl. Flatt began questioning Lauren Joan Perez and Danny Wayne Kelley, both of Lafayette. “Upon my investigation of Lauren Perez, she did admit to have shot up an unknown amount of morphine and having two small needles in her possession with some residue left inside them,” reported Officer Flatt. Perez had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes due to the medication and was transported to the local hospital for clearance before booking.

Kelley appeared disoriented with slurred speech and admitted to injecting an unknown amount of morphine.

Lauren Perez was charged with one count of public intoxication and one count of possession of SCH.II drugs. Her court date is set for May 15th with bond set at $2,500.

Danny Wayne Kelley was charges with one count of public intoxication and one count of possession of Ledgend drug. His court date is set for May 15th with bond set at $2,000.
