All the kids at Macon County Jr. High ran a mile last week. About 750 students in the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades participated. It was the second year of 100% participation for the school since they began holding the annual run.
6th graders ran Tuesday, 7th graders Wednesday, and 8th graders Thursday. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners were chosen by time for both girls and boys. Band members had a separate set of winners, because students in the band were only able to practice once a week instead of twice. Ms. Jill’s class also had a separate winner.
EMS donated time, waiting on the sidelines in case medical attention was needed. Anderson and Son Funeral Home donated a tent for time recorders and teachers, and Comp Rehab donated trophies for the winners.
Kids have been working their way up to 12 straight minutes of running—starting at 2 minutes.
