On Tuesday, January 3rd, the Red Boiling Springs High School basketball teams took on the Smith County Owls.
The Lady Bulldogs took the floor first going head to head with the Lady Owls. Shaylee Ellingson was the top scorer for this game, with a two-point shot, two threes, and five free throws. Ellingson had thirteen total points for the Lady Dawgs. Kennedy Fleming and Katie Heady were next. Fleming had eleven total points coming from two two-points, two three pointers, and a free throw. Heady had four two-pointers and a three.
Hayley Davis had two two-point shots during the game and five free throws, totaling nine points for the Lady Dawgs. Cayley Tuck had two two-point shots also, and was two for two in free throws, bringing her total to six points. Macy Raines also had a two-point shot during the game.
In a close game, the Lady Bulldogs fell to the Lady Owls, 52 to 62.
The boys went next against Smith County. Jordan Powell was the top scorer of this game with nine twos and six free throws totaling twenty-four points. Elijah Byfield had twelve points during the game, four two-pointers and four free throws. Mason Hix was next with eight points from two two-point shots, a three, and a free throw.
Matthew Murphy had a two and was two for two in free throws, scoring six points for the Dawgs. Justin Bergdorff brought in three points from a two-point shot and a free throw.
In another close game, the Bulldogs were defeated by the Owls, 53 to 61.
