The Macon County High School Tiger basketball team picked up another district win at home against DeKalb County on Tuesday, January 17 with a final score of 63-41. Individual scores were Seth Carlisle 24, Michael Ashburn 9, Heston King 9, Dalton Marsh 8, Kendrick Carter 8, Cameron Welch 3, and Cole Carnahan 2.
The Tigerettes also defeated DeKalb County by a score of 61-36. Individual scores were Keeley Carter 18, Mattie Goolsby 13, Jenna Russell 11, Kyndal Bullington 6, Luci Allen 4, Jamie Ashburn 3, McKaylee Mix 2, Landra Stafford 2, and Keeley Clariday 2.
The Tigers travelled to district opponent York Institute on Friday, January 20. The Tigers defeated the Dragons by a score of 65-37. Individual scores were Riley Phillips 13, Cameron Welch 13, Seth Carlisle 12, Heston King 11, Dalton Marsh 8, Michael Ashburn 6, and Kendrick Carter 2.
The Tigerettes fell to the Lady Dragons by a score of 64-72. Individual scores were not submitted by press time.
The Tigers now have an overall record of 17-4, with an undefeated district record of 8-0. With the undefeated record, the Tigers are ranked first in the district and are also ranked 10 in Class AA statewide by CoachT. The Tigerettes now have an overall record of 15-6, with a district record of 5-3. The Tigerettes are ranked fourth in the district and are ranked 16 in Class AA statewide by CoachT.
Upcoming games include Tuesday, January 24, at Livingston Academy; Friday, January 27, at home against Smith County; Tuesday, January 31, at home against Central Magnet; and Friday, February 3, at Cannon County. All games are set to tip off at 6:00pm.
