Macon County continues to win

The Macon County High School Tiger basketball team picked up another district win on Tuesday, January 31 when they defeated Central Magnet with a score of 54-42. Individual scores were Michael Ashburn 16, Seth Carlisle 10, Riley Phillips 9, Dalton Marsh 6, Heston King 4, Cameron Welch 4, Cole Carnahan 3, and Kendrick Carter 2.

The Tigerettes also defeated Central Magnet by a score of 55-32. Individual scores were Jamie Ashburn 13, Keeley Carter 13, Mattie Goolsby 8, Jenna Russell 7, Kyndal Bullington 4, Morgan Carter 4, McKaylee Mix 2, Luci Allen 2, and Landra Stafford 2.

The Tigers also defeated Cannon County on the road on Friday, February 3 with a final score of 77-52. Individual scores were Seth Carlisle 16, Riley Phillips 15, Michael Ashburn 10, Dalton Marsh 9, Cameron Welch 9, Heston King 8, Matt Young 4, Cole Carnahan 3, and Trent Cook 3.

The Tigerettes also defeated Cannon County with a score of 59-53. Individual scores were Keeley Carter 27, Jenna Russell 15, Mattie Goolsby 5, McKaylee Mix 5, Kyndal Bullington 4, and Jamie Ashburn 3.

The Tigers now have an overall record of 21-4, with a district record of 12-0. The Tigers are ranked first in District 8AA and are also ranked #9 in Class AA statewide by CoachT. The Tigerettes now have an overall record of 19-6, with a district record of 9-3. The Tigerettes are ranked second in District 8AA, behind Upperman. The Tigerettes are ranked #13 in Class AA statewide by CoachT.

Upcoming games include: Thursday, February 9, at DeKalb County; and Friday, February 10, at Trousdale County. All games are set to tip off at 6:00pm. District 8AA Tournament begins on Monday, February 13, at Tennessee Tech University in Cookeville. More details regarding the district tournament will be released next week.
