On Monday, February 20, it was announced that John Conditt would be taking over as head coach of the Macon County High School softball program. While Conditt is new to Macon County, he is not new to coaching youth. Conditt is a retired educator with over 32 years of coaching experience, who began his coaching career in Texas and recently retired from Metro Davidson County Schools in Nashville.
Conditt has received numerous awards and honors throughout his career as a coach. In Tennessee, he has been named Coca-Cola Football Coach of the Year and Coca-Cola Baseball Coach of the Year. Conditt also has experience being a charter member of the Middle Tennessee Softball Coaches Association and is currently the Director of the Tennessee Softball Coaches Association. Conditt has also made an appearance as either a head coach or assistant coach at three TSSAA State Softball Tournaments.
Coach Conditt stated that he is very excited about the future of the softball program at MCHS and the many accomplishments the very talented group of athletes may achieve.
“I want to welcome Coach Conditt to Macon County High and our rich tradition of success. We’ve had a very rewarding year thus far, athletically; but we’re not finished! I expect with Coach Conditt’s experience in developing and motivating young talent that winning will continue in softball as well. We have a lot of talent on this team and it’s lead by a great group of seniors. Their goal is the State Tournament and they’re ready to go to work to achieve that goal,” said MCHS Athletic Director Beverly Shoulders.
Conditt will be assisted by assistant coach Tara Haehl.
