Individual scores were Keeley Carter 23, Jenna Russell 8, Kyndal Bullington 7, Mattie Goolsby 7, McKaylee Mix 6, Luci Allen 6, Jamie Ashburn 2, and Morgan Carter 1. With the win, the Tigerettes’ overall record improved to 21-9 and are currently ranked #12 in Class AA by CoachT as they advance to the Region Semifinal game.
Due to all four District 8AA teams defeating their District 7AA opponent, the remainder of the girls’ Region 4AA Tournament will be played at Tennessee Tech rather than Sequatchie County as originally planned.
On Saturday, February 25, the first seeded Tigers hosted fourth seeded Bledsoe County in the first round of the Boys Region 4AA Tournament. The Tigers defeated Bledsoe County 73-39. The Tigers will play Central Magnet on Tuesday, February 28, at 6:00pm also at Tennessee Tech. All four District 8AA boys teams defeated their District 7AA opponent, meaning the remainder of the boys’ Region 4AA Tournament will be played at Tennessee Tech, as well.
On Monday, February 27, the Tigerettes took on the Lady Owls of Smith County in the Region 4AA Semifinal game. The Tigerettes defeated Smith County 50-45, in a very intense, nail biting game. The Tigerettes’ overall record stands at 22-9.
The Tigerettes will play the Lady Bees of Upperman in the Region 4AA Championship game on Wednesday, March 1, at 7:00pm at TTU. The winner of that game will host the sectional round, while the loser will have to travel to a Region 3AA host school.
Congratulations, Tigers and Tigerettes on your accomplishments thus far and best of luck in the upcoming games!
