MCHS Tigers win against Meade Co.

The Macon County High School Tiger football team claimed victory over the Greenwave of Meade County, Kentucky on Friday, October 21. Before the game began, Macon County won the coin toss and elected to defer, giving Meade County the first possession of the game. Also before the game, it was announced that quarterback Seth Carlisle had broken a school record and was now the all time leading rusher in MCHS school history.

In the first half, Michael Tirjan ran the ball into the endzone for the first Tiger touchdown of the night. The extra point attempt by Joey Medrano was good, making the score 7-0 Tigers with 4:44 left in the first quarter. After that touchdown, it was announced that Michael Tirjan had eclipsed the 1,000 rushing yard mark for the season. Neither team scored in the second quarter, so the Tigers lead 7-0 going into halftime.

In the third quarter, quarterback Seth Carlisle scored the second Tiger touchdown of the night. The extra point attempt by Medrano was no good, making the score 13-0 Tigers with 5:58 left in the third quarter. With that touchdown, it was announced that Seth Carlisle had also eclipsed the 1,000 rushing yards for the season. With seconds left in the third quarter, Chris Oliver scored the third Tiger touchdown for the night. The extra point attempt by Medrano was good, making the score 20-0 Tigers at the end of the third quarter.

Midway through the fourth quarter, Meade County recovered a fumble and ran the ball into the endzone for a touchdown. Their extra point attempt was good, making the score 20-7 Tigers with 4:23 left in the game. After the touchdown, the Greenwave set up for an onside kick, which was successful. One minute later after recovering their onside kick, the Greenwave scored another touchdown. Their extra point attempt was no good, making the score 20-13 Tigers, which was the final score of the game.

With this win, the Tigers improved to 7-2 overall for the season. The Tigers will host Region opponent Portland High School on Friday, October 28 in the last regular season game of the 2016 season. Kickoff is set for 7:00pm. This game will also be Senior Night.
