Meet Celeste D’Anjolell, the creator of the Dish It Out Foodie board game. In the 90’s, Celeste and Richard D’Anjolell lived in Philadelphia, PA and found that they both enjoyed having folks over for dinner. As time went on, friendships grew and everyone started sharing recipes and cooking tips. Celeste and Richard began talking about how great it would be to have a game about food to entertain their guests—a natural fit.
In 2012 Celeste caught the “foodie fever” and in 18 months—she and Richard created Dish It Out Foodie. Richard handled the financing and logistics; while Celeste created the graphics, design, printing, packaging and researched questions. The game comes in a 9” pizza box and all the game pieces are wrapped in concession type packages—holding true to that “foodie” theme. Celeste went through great effort to ensure everything is printed in the United States and hand assembles each game herself.
The game itself is a mixture of trivial pursuit and monopoly, The D’Anjolell’s tested 18 versions of the board game before getting it just right. The game consists of over 900 questions about kitchen delights from around the world within six different categories.
Celeste stated she has sold about 500 games since 2014—she has had the most success at food and craft fairs. Recently, she has taken a year off to recuperate from the loss of her husband Richard, and to relocate to Lafayette, TN near her brother and sister-in-law Dean and Mary Lazaro. Celeste is now ready to share her and Richard’s labor of love with the community.
