What began as a call to a minor accident lead into a joint investigation between the Lafayette Police Department and the Macon County Sheriff’s Department where eight people were arrested and an estimated thirty charges were made.
The Lafayette Police Department was called out early Wednesday morning, October 26, 2016, to a one vehicle accident on Industrial Drive. When the officers arrived the vehicle had already been towed, and a witness told authorities that two men had hidden some items that were inside the vehicle on the side of the road and then fled on foot. The witness identified one of the men as Jasper Linville, the other man was later identified as Nicholas Colby Tubbs. The police recovered a bag of tools, a generator, and a weed eater in the weeds on the side of the road where the witness indicated.
Lt. Jason Roberts of the LPD stated, “We suspected the items were from the maintenance building behind Lafayette Elementary School. While speaking with the maintenance staff they said that they were missing three weed eaters, a leaf blower, two bags of tools, and a generator. So I know we hadn’t found it all.”
Roberts suspected the other items might be where Linville had been staying, which was at Terrisa Green’s residence on Kristin Drive. Roberts commented, “I went to the Sheriff’s Office at this time, because it was discovered that the people were trying to move items into a storage building that belonged to Green. I told the detectives that I suspected that there were more stolen items.”
Authorities then went to talk to Green. While searching the house, a frying pan was found in the freezer with over 70 grams of methamphetamine inside. The house was then quarantined and DCS was notified due to a 7 year old child in the home.
A short time later the police department was notified of a suspicious yellow car in the Kristen Drive area. Lt. Clint Hestand of the LPD made a stop on the car and discovered a loaded gun along with methamphetamine inside the vehicle. Rachel Ray, Tiffany Bradley, Tyler West, who were in the car, were then arrested.
