Long before that first meeting at the Palace Hotel in 1919, deep in the hearts of far thinking men lived a dream. The Red Boiling Springs Bank became a reality because folks dared to act on their dreams.

Today, a group of people who love Red Boiling Springs have dared to dream. They have agreed to purchase the old Red Boiling Springs Bank building, built in 1928, with a view toward creating a Red Boiling Springs heritage museum.

This group has come together as Vision 2020 Inc, a 501c3 non-profit organization, dedicated to preserving the history of Red Boiling Springs and to enhancing the future of the city. As part of that mission, they will be raising funds to complete Phase I of the bank building project.

A road block will be held Sat., August 6, and an ice cream social is planned for Aug. 13 on the grounds of the Donoho Hotel. Besides ice cream and cookies, there will be lawn games, races, carriage rides, a cake walk and more. Gate admission will be $5 per person. A special family rate for children under the age of 10 will be available. Other fun events are also planned for later in the year.

Vision 2020 is seeking people who love Red Springs and are willing to volunteer their time and effort to making our community all that it can be. For further information contact vision2020@nctc.com or see the web page at www.vision2020inc.com or call 388-3046.
