In the women's division, the team from Tennessee State took first place overall, with 166.50 points, followed by Vanderbilt in second place, with 165 points; MTSU with 88.50; Tennessee Tech with 65; Rhodes College with 52; Murray State with 43; Austin Peay with 43; Western Kentucky with 39; UT-Martin with 16; Alabama - Huntsville with 14; Alabama A&M with 14; Life University with 5; and Lipscomb with 5.
Mandy Scruggs, former MCHS student and track team member, now attends Austin Peay State University and is a member of the APSU track team. During the April 19 - 20 competition, Scruggs took 8th place in the Women's Shot Put event, throwing for a distance of 37 feet, 2.25 inches; 14th place in the Women's Discus Throw with a distance of 97 feet, 2 inches; and 7th place in the Women's Javelin Throw with a distance of 100 feet, 3 inches.
Casey Stinson, former MCHS student and track team member, now attends Tennessee Tech University and is a member of the TTU track team. During the 2002 Vanderbilt Invitational, Stinson took 11th place in the Women's Discus throw with a distance of 101 feet, 11 inches; 8th place in the Women's Hammer Throw with a distance of 114 feet, 1 inch; and 21st place in the Women's Javelin Throw with a distance of 71 feet, 1 inch.
