Taking the top office in the county in the Republican Primary was Glen Harold Donoho with 2658 votes. Steve Jones received 2060 votes in the election.
In the race for Sheriff, incumbent Joe Ferguson defeated former Lafayette Chief of Police Buford Wix 3288-1445.
Incumbent County Court Clerk James Ralph Howser received 4059 complimentary votes in the County Court Clerk Race.
In the three way race for Trustee, incumbent Donnie Morgan received 2264 votes, just enough to squeak by opponent Cathy White, who received 2018 votes. Robert Knight received 509 votes in the election.
In the race for the Circuit Court Clerk position, incumbent Jennifer Hudson received 2658 votes and challenger Bryan West received 1847 votes.
Incumbent Melinda Ferguson ran unopposed in the Republican Primary for the position of Register of Deeds. Ferguson received 3830 complimentary votes.
Billy Bransford kept his District 1 County Commissioner seat getting 106 votes to his opponents' totals of Willard Shrum - 95 and William Fisher - 60.
In the race for District 5 County Commissioner Merlin Driver, who was running unopposed, received 137 votes.
In the District 6 County Commissioner race, Phillip Snow received 140 votes.
Jerry Ray, who was recently appointed to the District 7 County Commissioner seat, defeated opponent Wally Etheridge 188-139 in the Republican Primary.
Challenger Scott Gammons defeated incumbent Terry Marsh 159 votes to 149 votes for the District 8 County Commissioner race.
Challenger Ed Bridwell defeated incumbent Ronald Swindle 132 - 119 in the Republican Primary.
In the district 11 County Commissioner race, Ralph Doss received 102 votes.
Curtis Cookson received 215 votes in the district 13 County Commission race.
Incumbent Anna Dean Carter received 149 votes in the District 14 County Commission race.
In the District 15 County Commission race, Jimmy York received 141 votes.
In one of the largest County Commission races of the day, challenger Helen Hesson received 182 votes against District 16 incumbent Commissioner Tom Woosley's 57 votes. Also receiving votes in this race were Annette Marshall with 109 and Mike Bogle with 37.
George Duffer received 167 votes in his bid for the District 17 County Commission seat.
Ronnie Krantz received 144 votes in the District 18 County Commission race.
Lindbergh Dennis received 128 votes in the District 19 County Commission race.
Roger Guinn received 352 votes in the race for Constable for Districts 1, 2, 11, and 20.
Terry Daugherty defeated opponent Mike Wood in the Republican Primary race for the Constable for Districts 13, 14, 17, and 18. Wood received 245 votes to Daugherty's 398.
Winners in the Republican Primary will now prepare for the August 1 County General Election. In the General Election, the winners of the Republican Primary will face off against Democrat and Independent candidates in each category, with the winner assuming the responsibilities of the office on September 1.
Winning in the race for the three seats up for grabs in the Lafayette City Election were Ruby Flowers, Carl Hudgen and Steve Turner. Hudgen received 746 votes; Flowers received 734 votes; and Turner received 642 votes. Also receiving votes in the Lafayette City Election were Ronald Jenkins with 538 and Michael Duffer with 286 votes. These winners are scheduled to take the oath of office on Monday, May 13.
A total of 2,266 individuals took advantage of the Early Voting period held during the two weeks prior to the election. An additional 135 individuals voted by absentee ballot, for a total pre-Election Day Voter count of 2,401.
Approximately 2,000 more people cast their vote throughout the county on Election Day, for a total voter turnout of approximately 4,401.
