Community leader, local businessman passes away

Community leader and local businessman B.D. Polston passed away this past Sunday, June 16, 2002, at Macon County General Hospital.

Polston, who was 88 at the time of his death, was the owner and operator of B.D. Polston and Son Builder Supply.

Polston was a former member of the Lafayette City Council and is a past Board member of Macon Bank and Trust Company.

Polston is also credited as being instrumental in recruiting new industries to Macon County.

Polston was preceded in death by his wife Pauline Dillard Polston.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Paulette and Carl Oldham of Hendersonville; a son and daughter-in-law, Tony and LaRue Polston of Lafayette; 4 grandchildren a great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by a brother, Arnold Polston of Scottsville, Kentucky.

Funeral services for B.D. Polston will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, at Alexander-Goad Funeral Home in lafayette.
