Tigers drop heartbreaker to RBS

The Macon County Junior High School Tigers dropped another close game last Monday night. This one was against cross county rival Red Boiling Springs.

RBS jumped out to an early 12-4 lead, but the Tigers made a run and ended up on top 17 - 16 at the half.

Macon County went on a 7 point run in the third quarter to extend the lead to 24 - 16. But the Dawgs weren't finished yet as they fought back to trail the Tigers at the end of three by only three points, 28 - 25.

The Bulldogs were leading by 2 with 4 seconds left in the game. The Bulldogs had the opportunity to seal the victory with two free throws, but they were unable to connect on either.

Tiger forward Matt Wilson rebounded the ball and quickly took it down the floor. He quickly carried the ball down the floor and, at the last second, launched a desperation three pointer that hit the glass, bounced off the rim, and fell harmlessly to the floor. The Bulldogs won the match-up 35 - 33.

The Tigers were led in scoring by Justin Harp with 10, Matt Wilson with 6, Alan Hire and Casey Shrum with 5 points each, Justin Kirby with 4, and Dyron Birdwell with 3.

With the loss, Macon County's record drops to 2 - 5 on the year.

The Tigers next two games will be at home, on December 12th, they will host Trousdale county and on December 16, the Tigers will host Fox.

The December 12 game will serve as parents night, with eighth graders and their parents being recognized just prior to tip-off.

The December 16 game will serve as Homecoming, with the crowning set for just prior to tip-off.

Both games have a 6:30 start time.
