Funeral services for Doyle Coons, age 63, of the Leonard Community in Clay County, TN., were conducted Saturday, March 22, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. from the Leonard Church of Christ with Roy Henson officiating. His nephews served as pallbearers. Interment followed in the Leonard Cemetery.

Doyle Coons passed away Thursday afternoon, March 20, 2003 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

A native of Clay County, TN, he was the son of the late William and Letha Hix Coons. He was married to the former Trudy Bean on December 24, 1964, who survives. He was preceded in death by a brother, Weldon Coons. He was a retired employee with the Crotty Inds. in Gainesboro, TN with 17 years of service, a veteran, and a member of the Leonard Church of Christ.

Survivors besides his wife include daughter, Karen (Adam) Bernhardt, Cookeville; son, Sam (Vivian) Coons, Cookeville; sisters, Edris Jenkins and Louise Whitley, Red Boiling Springs; brothers, William Coons, Red Boiling Springs, Jody Coons, Castalian Springs; four grandchildren.
