Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 21, 2003, 3:00 p.m. at New Home Church, officiated by Bro. John Allen Graves, Bro. Foster Bell, Bro. Randy Andrews and Bro. Ricky Graves. Burial was in New Hope Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Danny Creasy, Donnie Blankenship, Gerald Graves, Michael Graves, Maxie Graves, Billy Ray Graves, and Thomas Carter.
She was born in Westmoreland on April 6, 1911, a daughter of the late Thomas Young Coley and Josie Angel Coley. She was married to Barnie W. Carter, who also preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and member of new Hope Church. She was preceded in death by one son, Fred Wilson Carter; one daughter and son-in-law, Dixie Carter and Buddy Woodard; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Coley Gibbs, Virginia Coley and Nora Coley; and one brother, Garland Coley.
Survivors include three sons, George Tommy Carter and Gary Nelson Carter, both of Bethpage, Doug Carter of Westmoreland; one daughter, Barbara Blankenship of Westmoreland; two sisters, Carlene Coley Carter and Annie Lou Coley Graves, both of Westmoreland; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Anderson & Woodard Funeral Home in Westmoreland was in charge of arrangements.
