Deputy Troy Griggs responded to a home burglary at 5837 Rocky Mound Road Thursday, January 2.

According to a report from Detective Mark Gammons, Deputy Griggs arrived at the residence to serve a detainer warrant. Deputy Griggs spoke with the residents, Martha and Robert Alston, as they were returning to their home. As Deputy Griggs was leaving the drive way, Martha Alston came from the residence and reported that someone had broken into the home and several items had been taken.

The home had been entered by a person breaking out the front glass to the door. Items reported missing were three gold rings, a three disc CD player, a Lenox doll, several CDs, 20-30 DVD and VHS tapes, a black prom dress, a pocket watch, and several other items with an estimated total value of $600.

Information led authorities to investigate a report made on December 30 from Clint Taylor, also of the Rocky Mound community.

According to this report, Taylor contacted the Macon County Sheriff's Department and spoke with Deputy Bill Cothron. Taylor told Deputy Cothron that he had a renter at 5837 Rocky Mound Road that would not move from the residence and they had caused damage to the property. Deputy Cothron advised Taylor that this was a civil matter and that he would need to consult an attorney. Taylor stated that he had a family ready to move into the residence and he could not get into the residence. Taylor said he was going to break into the residence. Deputy Cothron advised Taylor that because someone was living at the residence he could be charged for entering the home.

The report then states that Taylor contacted the MCSD later and reported that he had entered the residence by breaking the glass on the front door and found a set of postal scales and some residue that appeared to be marijuana.

Authorities are still investigation this break in. One arrest has been made. Renae Lee Jaggers, of Bledsoe Street, Westmoreland, has been charged with theft of property by Detective Gammons. She is scheduled to appear in General Sessions court January 14. Her bond was set at $1000.

Chief Deputy Robin Gregory stated that further arrest are pending.
